Webranking by Comprend 2014-2015 shows that Finnish corporate sites are ahead of the curve in many ways, including receiving top scores in the IR, financial reporting and share sections.

Finland outperforms

In the area of providing responsive websites for mobile users, Finnish corporations are well ahead of the curve. Of the 50 largest companies in Finland, 38% offer mobile sites, while only 34% of Swedish companies and 24% of other European corporations have adapted their sites for the mobile environment.

Finnish corporate websites also perform exceptionally well within the area of risk management, where 88% of the sites surveyed received full credit for their information on financial and operating risks, as well as documenting risk management routines. In comparison, 42% of Swedish companies received full credit in this section.

Stakeholders request the most information in areas such as financial targets and growth drivers. Finnish companies also performed very well in this section of the survey. 76% of Finnish companies present information about financial targets on their websites – compared with just 22% of other FT Europe 500 companies and 64% of Swedish companies. 40% of Finnish corporations have information about how the company previously achieved its goals, while the corresponding figure for the FT Europe 500 and Sweden are 10% and 28%, respectively.

Areas for improvement

Despite being top performers in many areas, Finnish corporate sites showed weak scores in the areas of CSR and career. According to Webranking by Comprend, Finnish companies are underperforming in these sections against other European peers – where 46% of Finnish companies offer CSR information and 44% offer career information. These results mirrored the findings of the Swedish results, where Swedish corporate websites also struggled in these sections.
