Snam, Gruppo Hera and ENI round up this year’s Italian podium

The Italian weekly Corrier Economia reported exclusively today the findings of the latest Webranking by Comprend 2016 Italy edition in collaboration with Lundquist.

The findings reveal that the mid-cap Italian companies are the ones to watch when it comes to credible communicating via their corporate website and digital channels.

Snam makes a significant leap this year to take first place in the Italian ranking, beating all previous records with 93.6 points out of 100. Multi-utility company Gruppo Hera, for the first time on the Italian podium, follows in second place with 91.8 points with oil and gas company ENI now in third place with 87 points.

The Italian average rose 0.2 points from 43.3 to 43.5.

Italian mid-cap companies are the most credible communicators

Year on year, results in Webranking prove that the size of a company by market cap does not guarantee “best performance” status. Credible comms is a skill to be learned and improved upon over time, with companies who master the art showing a clear understanding of the fundamentals of online corporate comms and digital dialogue. These companies pass the stress test as they show they are effectively responding to market needs.

The 2016-2017 Italian results once again hold this theory to be true, with their mid-cap companies demonstrably outperforming their larger peers. Multi-utility company Gruppo Hera jumps to second place, with construction firm Salini Impreglio and renewable energy firm Erg making it into the top 10 for the first time. Apart from Snam, the overall winner of the ranking, all of the companies which have significantly improved this year are in the mid-cap range.

The Italian ranking excluded those that have had consistently low scores in previous years and have not shown any signs of improving, leaving 70 names contending for the title.
